The artist collaborative Sodalitas is comprised of Shea Little, Joseph Phillips, and Jana Swec. Through multimedia paintings, collage, and sculpture, they explore ideas of growth, decay, communication, autonomy, and the relationship between the individual and the group. Core is both physical and emotional, the center or soul of ones self or community. It speaks to the relationship between the external and internal, and that structure of dichotomy that is inherent everywhere from deformation and healing, creation and destruction, collapse and re-birth.

Sodalitas

Joseph Phillips, Shea Little, and Jana Swec are all founding members of the non-profit gallery and studio complex Big Medium, the East Austin Studio Tour, and The Texas Biennial. Each of them, an accomplished artist on their own, they began working collaboratively in 2002 from a warehouse in East Austin. A communal process has developed between these friends creating a different feel to their collaborations while still drawing from their personal fortes. This group has won a number of awards including; Best of Austin Awards, Best New Art Collaborative, Austin Chronicle Top Ten Artists and Austin Critics Awards Art Community Leadership.
